Meet The Egli Team

Tim Egli

Tim Egli

Tim Egli started Egli Landscapes in Wayland, Iowa, in 2004. He became a Certified Nursery Professional with the Iowa Nursery and Landscape Association (INLA) in 2005. Other business affiliations include NALP, ICPI, NFIB, and Mt. Pleasant Chamber of Commerce. Day to day he is in charge of managing the business, landscape design, sales, coordination of jobs, and some of the equipment repairs. Tim developed his work ethic growing up on the family dairy farm right here in southeast Iowa. He was transplanting trees from the timber to the backyard by the time he could drive a shovel in the ground. Tim has worked in the green industry (landscaping) since 1996 along with working for a general contractor building and remodeling homes. Tim has always enjoyed being outdoors playing in the dirt but also has a passion for the artistic design process that goes into transforming properties. While at Kirkwood Community College, Tim completed internships with Country Landscapes in North Liberty and Dwight Hughes Nursery in Cedar Rapids. In December 2002 he graduated with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Landscape Nursery and Garden Center Management and went to work fulltime for Dwight Hughes Nursery. After a year learning efficient techniques of landscaping, Tim decided to take the big leap into his own business. Tim enjoys spending time with his wife, Kim and children Ty, Tanner, and Taelyn. Having a family has taught him that the decisions we make truly impact those around us. When he does get a chance to relax, he likes to go fishing, watch college football, and just hang out and play with his kids. He is also an active member of the Wayland Lions Club.

Grandma Sunny

Grandma Sunny

She earned her nickname as soon as Ty (Tim’s oldest son) was old enough to talk. But all of the team members have fittingly adopted that name for her as she looks over each of them and teaches them everything she can about the plants. Sunny enjoys spending as much time as possible with all of her children and grandchildren. When Tim started the business, she immediately stepped up to help out in any way she could. Tim has incorporated her knowledge of plant material into watering and caring for the nursery stock. Her diligence and nurturing ensure that the plants leave the nursery looking their best. She also spends time doing research to expand and improve our plant palette.

Dan Wolf

Dan Wolf

He grew up in Wayland and after college and ran his own landscaping business there for five years before joining Egli Landscapes. Dan maintains ICPI certification (Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute – over 10,000 sq feet of paver installation, classroom training & testing) and is licensed in commercial pesticide application. He is married to Hannah and currently has three young children, Owen, Layla & Avery. Dan enjoys small remodeling and do-it-yourself projects, snowmobiling, Iowa Hawkeye Football, and spending time with his family.

Gil started at Egli Landscapes in the March of 2015.  He studied horticulture at Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, Iowa.  After college he moved back to southeast Iowa to continue in the industry with Egli Landscapes. He was born in Los Angeles, California but was raised in Columbus Junction, Iowa, where he graduated from high school and participated in Football, Track, and Wrestling. He currently is an assistant coach for the Columbus Junction wrestling team. Gil enjoys going to Iowa Football games and Iowa wrestling meets, watching UFC, lifting weights, and watching college football.  Gil has been a great and growing asset to the Egli Landscapes team with his energy, positivism, emphasis on quality, interest in learning, and invaluable character.  We are looking forward to his promotion to Team Leader (currently in training).  He is studying for his ICPI certification and also plans to become licensed in commercial pesticide application.
