Lead Designer & Architect 

Egli Landscapes is seeking an experienced and reliable Lead Designer & Architect to assist with Business Development, Sales, and Product Supervision. There is nothing more rewarding than adding value to our clients’ properties to show them what service is all about.

We pay above standards, and there is also much room for growth! Profit-sharing is available for well-performing, dependable team members who reach agreed-upon goals.

Job Details :  $55,000 – $75,000 plus commissions, based on experience

Employment Type:  Full-Time

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Landscape Design & Architecture
    • Supervise current projects under construction, especially jobs sold
    • Plan, direct, and evaluate team members under your supervision
      • Maintain accurate documentation of LMN and any personnel issues
    • Assist Operations Manager
    • Design landscapes using our design programs, Pro-Landscape or U-vision
    • Maximize the aesthetic characteristics of clients’ property by interrelating relevant landscape design elements
    • Work in the field when necessary 
    • Keep our clients’ properties looking fantastic
  • Business Development
    • Assist Operations Manager in all aspects of Sales and Production Supervision
    • Efficiently follow our Selling Process
    • Develop and present designs and proposals
    • Sell and promote ideas and concepts
    • Establish labor, equipment, material, and overhead costs aligned with target margin of profit
    • Implement our marketing agenda using monthly e-news, Facebook, and website
  • Teamwork & Community Presence
    • Embody our core values (Attitude, Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Commitment), policies and standards
    • Report directly to Owner
    • Collaborate with a motivated team of members, leaders, mangers, admin staff and clients
    • Communicate consistently and build strong relationships with the President, Operations Manager and the Landscape Management Network (LMN)
    • Maintain and grow client relations and networking database
    • Bring suggestions for improvement to every weekly meeting
  • Learning & Development
    • Cross-train with our team and prepare to take on additional leadership
  • Customer Satisfaction
    • Make great first impressions (over the phone and in-person) 
    • Communicate with clients regularly to ensure our service is exceeding their expectations

Minimum Requirements

  • 4-year degree in Horticulture or related field, emphasis in Landscape Design
  • 5+ years’ experience in Landscape Design, Horticulture or a related field
  • Working knowledge of standard horticultural practices (planting, pruning, corrective pruning, fertilization etc.), landscaping, and hardscaping
  • Ability to draw or use drafting techniques representing topography, vegetation layout, and other landscape amenities
  • Working knowledge of standard construction practices, basic electricity, piping and plumbing concepts
  • Ability to identify commonly used botanical names (shrubs, perennials, and/or trees) as well as common weeds and pests
  • Ability to recognize drainage deficiencies and problem soil
  • Ability to operate various power equipment (weed eaters, blowers, edgers, sod cutters, trucks, trailers, track loaders, and excavators, etc.)
  • Passion for Landscape Design & Architecture

  • Valid Iowa Driver’s License (CDL preferred or willingness to obtain)

  • Become certified with the Interlocking Concrete Paver Institute (ICPI)
  • Become a Certified Nursery Professional with the Iowa Nursery & Landscape Association (INLA)
